Apprentice Commis Chef (Level 2) at TARE RESTAURANT

Tare is a 20 cover restaurant situated on Bristol’s Wapping Wharf harbourside development, part of a large group of independent businesses operating from converted shipping containers.

Tare Restaurant's aim is to cook tasty food with skill and care using the best produce we can find, served alongside a carefully curated drinks menu in a relaxed and informal setting.

We are looking for an ambitious and hardworking trainee chef. Preferably, you will have a basic level of skill and kitchen experience however we are happy to train from scratch anyone with the willingness and ambition to learn.

To hold you in the best possible stead of being successful you will be able to demonstrate that you are a great team player with a passion for food and the industry.

We expect staff to be hard working, great with people and most importantly have a passion for food. We believe teamwork is vital and want people who can genuinely make customers feel welcome. Our aim is to offer job opportunities with real long-term prospects to reward people with a talent for hospitality.

Daily duties will include:

  • Preparing food using fresh ingredients
  • Preparing starters and desserts during service with training
  • Efficiently carry out the orders and specifications set by the Chef
  • Ensure the smooth running of your section, keeping it clean and tidy
  • Ensure all methods of preparation and presentation comply with the standards set by the Head Chef
  • Working in a safe manner at all times

We are available for private hire for groups of up to 25, both lunch and dinner from Tuesday to Friday. Please contact us for more information regarding menu options and available dates.

  • Intermediate qualification in Commis Chef (Level 2) Hospitality
  • Full on the job training and support from your team
  • Attendance at Weston College's "School of Food" professional Chef programme
  • Monthly visits from your College Assessor
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) workbook
  • Functional skills in maths and English - if applicable and depending on your prior attainments

Possibly securing a full-time position upon completion of the apprenticeship.

The working hours will vary on a rota basis. An example weekly shift is: Weds: 1100-1830, Thurs: 1100-1830, Fri: 1700-0000 plus college day.
