What will I do on this course?
This course is an exciting route into the beauty therapy industry. You will develop your specialist beauty therapy skills through studying client care and communication, manicure and pedicure treatments, applying make-up, eyelash and brow treatments, facial skincare, waxing techniques, salon reception duties, running an effective business, displaying stock to promote sales, health and safety, and nail art.
You will further develop your knowledge and apply the skills through working in a real-life commercial salon and attending work placements throughout the year. In addition, tutorial support, personal and social development, and English and maths development are fundamental elements of this course and will be embedded into your vocational learning.
How will I be assessed?
You’ll be assessed through online tests, practical work, assignments and projects. You’ll have an online gradebook that you will keep up-to-date and manage targets that your tutor sets you throughout the year. You’ll be tested on a termly basis while being monitored by a local employer with external quality assurance. There are two written exams on this course.
What could I do after this course?
You could progress into employment as a beauty therapist, or gain further qualifications with our Level 3 qualifications in Beauty Therapy, Holistic Therapy or Sports Massage. You could also consider a beauty therapy apprenticeship.
Five GCSEs at grade 3/D and above, and English or maths at grade 4/C and above.
