Carpentry and Joinery, Intermediate Apprenticeship
What will I do on this course?
This carpentry and joinery apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to learn carpentry skills, earn a wage, and gain valuable work experience in the industry. You'll be employed by a carpenter or building contractor and work alongside an experienced tradesperson to develop and practice your skills. You'll attend College for one day a week to learn the technical side of your trade.
You will learn about first fixing and second fixing operations, and erecting structural carcasses (site carpentry). We will also work with you to develop your English and maths skills to the level that most employers in the construction industries are looking for.
How will I be assessed?
We will assess your practical skills and also observe you in the workplace. You will also do online tests, assignments and produce a portfolio of evidence to show the work you’ve done.
What could I do after this course?
Most of our apprentices are kept on by their employers at the end of their course. You could choose to increase your skills with a Carpentry and Joinery Advanced Apprenticeship or Weston College’s Level 3 Site Carpentry Diploma.
Four GCSEs at grade 3/D and above or a Level 1 qualification. You’ll also need to be in relevant employment, but we can help you find this.
