Highways Maintenance Skills Operative, Intermediate Apprenticeship
What will I do on this course?
A highways maintenance skilled operative will undertake reactive and planned rural and urban roads maintenance and repair. They will work outside in all weathers and may be required to work at all times of the day and night at various locations. Working on rural and urban roads maintenance and repair can be dangerous so operatives need plenty of common sense and a high level of safety awareness, together with a disciplined and responsible approach to working with others. Understanding health and safety and environmental control will be essential to ensure safe working on rural and urban roads.
How will I be assessed?
The end-point assessment will consist of a knowledge test and a skills test at the end of the training period.
What could I do after this course?
You could progress to Contracting Operations or Site Supervisory apprenticeships at Level 3.
There are no other formal qualifications required to start this apprenticeship but you will be assessed to ensure you have the ability to complete English and maths qualifications to at least Level 1. You will also need to be in relevant employment but we can help you find this.
