Plumbing and Heating, Intermediate Apprenticeship
What will I do on this course?
Apprenticeships are a great chance to learn on the job, earn a wage and gain the skills that employers are looking for. You’ll be employed by a plumber or building contractor and work alongside an experienced tradesperson to develop and practise your new skills. You’ll also attend College for one day a week to learn the theoretical side of your trade.
The course covers a range of topics, including plumbing systems; components, and their installation; health and safety; hot and cold water systems; sanitation; and central heating. We’ll also help you develop the English and maths skills required in the industry.
How will I be assessed?
You’ll be assessed through practical skills tests and workplace observations. You will also do online tests, assignments and produce a portfolio of evidence.
What could I do after this course?
Most of our apprentices are kept on by their employers at the end of their course. You can also increase your skills and unlock higher-paid roles by studying Weston College’s Level 3 Diploma in Plumbing Studies or an advanced apprenticeship.
A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 9-2 with at least two at grade 4, or a qualifying Level 1 qualification. You’ll also need to be in relevant employment, but we can help you find this.
