What will I do on this course?
This course will develop your skills to an advanced level. You’ll learn in-depth carpentry skills, and cover topics including safe working practices; building methods and construction technologies; erecting complex structural carcass components (site carpentry); complex roof structures; and information, quantities and communication in a construction environment.
You'll also take part in work experience, tutorials, CSCS training, and personal and social development. We’ll also work with you to develop your English and maths skills to the level required in the industry.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through practical tests, assignment, a portfolio of work, online multiple choice tests, a work placement log, and a CSCS test.
What could I do after this course?
You could progress to employment as a construction site manager, a carpenter with advanced skills, or you could set up your own carpentry business. You could also increase your skills and gain work experience with a Carpentry and Joinery Advanced Apprenticeship or a Foundation Degree in Construction Engineering at University Centre Weston.
You’ll need to have completed the Level 2 Diploma in Site Carpentry, and will also have to attend an interview.
