Communication with Children and Young People, Introduction
If you want to work and communicate successfully with young people, this course is for you.
A typical week will consist of learning about core communication skills, practising a variety of strategies, learning about theories and process and participating in small and large group discussions.
On successful completion of this course you will be able to:
- Use strategies to communicate more effectively with children and young people
- Use creative methods of exploration
- Manage common behaviours
- Develop effective skills to work with pressures young people may experience
- Keep children and young people safe (to include legislation, multi-agency working and safeguarding).
Delivered over six weeks, this evening course will be from 6pm-9pm with some of this time allocated for tutorials. Your work will be assessed through weekly activities, and there will often be discussions and group work throughout the lessons.
An interest in developing self awareness, effective communication skills and working with others.
