Bricklaying: Construction Skills, City & Guilds
What will I do on this course?
This is an introduction to bricklaying and could lead to a successful career in the construction industry. You’ll learn about a number of relevant topics that will develop your skills to a basic level and, ideally, will lead to further qualifications.
You’ll cover topics including building methods and construction technology; carrying out safe working practices; basic bricklaying walling and cavity walling; setting out; and building basic masonry structure up to damp course level. This course includes tutorial support, employability and study skills. You’ll also develop the English and maths skills you’ll need work in the construction industry.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through practical tests, assignments, a portfolio of work, and online multiple choice tests.
What could I do after this course?
You could progress to the construction industry as a bricklayer or labourer, or increase your skills with a Level 2 course in Bricklaying or a Trowel Occupations Intermediate Apprenticeship.
A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 3-1 with at least two at grade 3, or the successful completion of a pre-vocational programme.
