What will I do on this course?
This Level 2 course will develop your carpentry skills, and is ideal for people who have completed a Level 1 qualification. It could also be the starting point for your future career in the construction industry.
You will cover a range of topics, including building methods and construction technology; first and second fixing operations; erecting structural carcasses (site carpentry); assembling joinery products; and information, quantities and communicating in a construction environment.
You will develop your maths and English skills, attend tutorials and Individual Development (ID) or Future Academy. You will also complete a work placement or extended industry placement. All aspects of your study programme will be discussed at your interview.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through practical tests, an assignment, a portfolio of work, and online multiple choice tests.
What could I do after this course?
You could progress to a job as a carpenter or improver. You could also choose to unlock the highest-paying carpentry jobs with further qualifications such as our Level 3 Site Carpentry Diploma or an apprenticeship.
A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 9-2 with at least two at grade 4, or a qualifying Level 1 qualification.
