Blacksmithing (Cold Forging)
Ever wanted to try your hand at the ancient art of blacksmithing?
Spend a day in our extensively equipped workshops and learn how to manipulate hot steel and produce your own metal masterpiece. You can choose from a range of small projects to make and take away with you.
What will you do?
After a simple demonstration you will have a go yourself. You will be shown how to safely use the hand tools and will incorporate design elements into practical work.
At the end of your day you will take away pieces of your own handcrafted work – a test piece you produced when practising techniques, plus a finished piece.
Some elements of the course may be subject to change on the day.
What should you wear?
Wear overalls or old clothes that you don't mind getting dirty or damaged. You must wear full-length trousers and sleeves, and clothes should be made from natural fibres (cotton or denim), not synthetic.
You will be provided with safety equipment for the day, but are advised to wear safety boots – non-steel toe capped footwear is worn at your own risk.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course.
