This course will provide you with the knowledge, skills and qualification you’ll need to support those who are struggling to deal with substance misuse.
You will benefit from being taught by our highly trained lecturers who have years of experience within the sector, and bring their experience into their teaching and delivery.
Dealing with people with substance misuse issues requires certain skills, and this course will teach you how to effectively support those who are struggling to cope with the substance misuse. Over this 14 week course you will explore and develop the theoretical and practical knowledge and interpersonal communication required when working with substance misusers.
A qualification in substance misuse counselling helps you specialise. If you’re new to the subject or looking to enhance your current counselling skills, a qualification in substance misuse counselling is a great addition to your CV that show that you have the specialist knowledge and understanding to provide this service.
You will learn about:
- Understanding substance misuse
- Recognising and responding to substance misuse
- Sensible and social use of alcohol
- Community responses to substance misuse
- Options and interventions for substance misusers.
This course is an additional course that sits within the counselling suite of qualifications. It can be used to progress onto further counselling courses at Level 2 or 3.
