Engineering, BTEC Extended Diploma

What will I do on this course?

This high-quality Level 3 engineering course can lead to an exciting career as an engineer. Equivalent to 3 A Levels, this two-year extended diploma has a blend of core engineering subjects, but also explores the future technologies that influence the sector.

The qualification offers both a practical and academic focus and will provide you with skills, knowledge and understanding of subjects such as robotics, pneumatics, hydraulics, electronic principles, materials and 3D printing within our new Engineering Centre workshops and laboratories. You’ll also cover topics including

How will I be assessed?

We will assess your assignments, practical work and final project.

What could I do after this course?

You’ll have the skills to enter employment in the engineering sector. You could also progress to a range of Level 4 engineering courses, including the Engineering HND, Engineering Higher Apprenticeship or foundation degree in Mechanical Engineering.


Entry Requirements

Five GCSEs at grade 4/C and above, including English, maths and science. You’ll also be asked to attend an interview.
