Hair and Media Make-up, Technical Diploma
What will I do on this course?
This Level 2 hair and make-up course will teach you how to apply make-up and style hair for fashion, beauty and editorial images.
You’ll develop knowledge and practical skills by studying a range of topics including the art of photographic make-up, creating an image based on a theme, and health and safety practices.
You’ll have the choice of studying between a range of areas, which include skin tanning, creative themed face painting, nail and body art design, client consultation for hair services, colouring and lightening hair, perming techniques, cutting women’s hair, plaiting and twisting hair.
As part of this study programme you will develop your maths and English skills, attend tutorials and Individual Development (ID) or Future Academy. You will also complete a work placement or extended industry placement. All aspects of your study programme will be discussed at your interview.
How will I be assessed?
You’ll be assessed through two online written assessments plus formal practical assessments. You’ll have an online gradebook that you will keep up-to date and will manage targets throughout the year.
What could I do after this course?
You could get a job in a salon or become self employed. Or you could increase your skills at Weston College with a Level 3 course in barbering or hairdressing.
Four GCSEs at grade 9-3, including English or maths at grade 4 or above.
