Hair Professional: Barbering, Intermediate Apprenticeship
What will I do on this course?
This apprenticeship will enable you to learn practical skills on the job as well as developing your theoretical skills in Weston College’s commercial salons. You’ll earn a wage and gain valuable work experience while also getting the benefits of being a student.
You’ll learn the theory and skills needed to gain employment in the industry, along with the professionalism and behaviour expected within the sector. The topics you will study include cutting men’s hair, cutting facial hair, shaving and styling men’s hair.
How will I be assessed?
Your personal assessor will visit your salon to review your progress and we’ll assess you in our commercial salon. Once your gradebook is complete we will agree an end-point assessment with you, which will be an externally graded three–hour trade test.
What could I do after this course?
The majority of our apprentices are kept on by their employer after they finish their course. You could develop your skills with an advanced apprenticeship.
Five GCSEs at grade 9-3, including English and maths, or a Level 1 qualification. You’ll need to be in employment in the industry, but we can support you to find this.
