What will I do on this course?
On this course you will gain a good level of basic training in hairdressing, covering all the practical skills of a salon such as cutting, colouring and styling. Your personal skills and confidence will be developed to enable you to work effectively and professionally with clients and colleagues.
You will further develop your knowledge and apply the skills you have learned through working in a real-life commercial salon and attending work placements throughout the year. In addition, tutorial support, personal and social development, and English and maths development are fundamental elements of this course and will be embedded into your vocational learning.
How will I be assessed?
You’ll be assessed through online tests, practical work, assignments and projects. You’ll have an online gradebook that you will keep up-to-date and manage targets that your tutor sets you throughout the year. You’ll be tested every term while being monitored by a local employer with external quality assurance. There are two written exams on this course.
