General Cookery, Certificate
What will I do on this course?
The General Cookery Level 1 course will provide you with the basic skills you’ll need to enter the catering and hospitality industry.
This course is the perfect place to start if you want to gain the knowledge and qualifications that will help you become a chef, barista or hospitality professional. You’ll also be able to put your skills into practice in our professional training kitchen, café and restaurant.
You’ll study a range of topics to gain a solid introduction to the subject. These include: food preparation and cooking, food safety, food allergies, healthy eating, customer services, and health and safety and gain a solid introduction to the subject. We’ll also work with you to develop your English and maths skills.
How will I be assessed?
You’ll be assessed through a mixture of live practical assessments and tests of your theory knowledge.
What could I do after this course?
This course could be your first steps towards a career in hospitality and catering as a commis chef or a waiter. You could increase your skills by progressing to Weston College’s Level 2 Professional Cookery course or an apprenticeship in the sector.
