Law and Practice, CILEx Certificate | Weston College

Law and Practice, CILEx Certificate

This course is the first half of the academic qualification to become an Associate Membership of Chartered Institute of Legal Executives

As a Weston College CILEx learner you will be taught by highly trained staff who have experience within the industry, including several with experience as CILEx examiners. Our lessons were recently rated as outstanding by Ofsted.

You will also be on an easy commuter route to Bristol and the South West with fantastic transport links.

CILEx qualifications are an opportunity to become a qualified Chartered Legal Executive, an authorised person under the Legal Services Act 2007 able to undertake almost all the activities of other types of Qualified Lawyer, such as Solicitors. Chartered Legal Executives can then become partners of law firms, become Advocates, qualify also as solicitors and even become Judges.

The CILEx route to qualification allows incremental progression through different membership grades. It is therefore a great way for those working in the legal sector to achieve relevant knowledge, skills and ultimately progress in their careers.

The CILEx Level 3 Certificate requires students to study 5 units of study, which are each assessed by CILEx.

Units available include:

  • Introduction to Law and Practice (mandatory)
  • Contract Law
  • Criminal Law
  • Land Law
  • Law of Tort
  • Wills and Succession
  • Civil Litigation
  • Conveyancing
  • Criminal Litigation
  • Probate Practice
  • Client Care Skills (mandatory)
  • Legal Research Skills (mandatory)

Upon successful completion of the certificate, you can progress to complete a further five units of study to achieve the CILEx Level 3 Professional Diploma in Law and Practice and Associate member status.

Course fee

£250.00 for each unit.
