What will I do on this course?
This course will develop your skills and knowledge to enable you to pursue a career in personal training.
This course is delivered face-to-face, so you will benefit from support and guidance from your tutor every step of the way.
Personal trainers earn, on average, around £22,000 per year. If you are freelance, you could earn £40 an hour, or up to £100 an hour if you are experienced and have high-profile clients.
You can also use this qualification to upskill if you already hold a gym instructor qualification and are looking to become self-employed and run your own business.
This course covers a range of topics, including:
- How to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity
- Health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment
- Principles of exercise, fitness and health
- Anatomy and physiology for exercise and health
- Applying the principles of nutrition to a physical activity programme
- Programming personal training with clients
- Delivering personal training sessions.

What can I do after this course?
You could progress to the Level 3 Exercise Referrals or Level 4 Weight Management courses. You could also progress to qualifications in related sectors, like sports massage, or qualifications mapping to additional branches of the Level 3 Standards, such as Exercise Referral and Leisure Management.
This qualification also offers entry on to the Level 3 Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs).
A suitable Level 2 qualification in Gym Instructing
