Sport and Exercise Science, Extended Diploma
What will I do on this course?
This study programme brings together theory, practical skills and knowledge of sport and exercise science. You will learn about anatomy, physiology, sports psychology, research methods, and fitness testing.
You’ll also be able to study optional specialist units which will help you get into the type of sporting career you’re interested in.
These include: sports biomechanics in action; exercise, health and lifestyle; fitness training and programming; sports nutrition; current issues in sport; instructing physical activity and exercise; sports injuries; sports coaching; practical individual sports; and practical team sports. We will also work with you to develop your English and maths skills to the level that most employers look for.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through exams, coursework, presentations and practical activities.
What could I do after this course?
You will have access to a wide range of career paths in the sports and active leisure industry, and you could increase your skills with a Foundation Degree in Sports Studies at University Centre Weston.
Five GCSEs grades 9-5 including maths, English and science.
