BENEFITS OF WORKING FOR THE COLLEGE
We provide an excellent programme of staff development and CPD opportunities to all staff through internal development courses and training or through programmes such as LinkedIn Learning.
Not JUST available to students, college staff are also eligible to purchase a student discount card through Totum.
As well as access to the college’s in house student-led training restaurant, staff members also receive a 10% discount at The Green House coffee shop.
All employees of Weston College, are able to benefit from a free subscription to Microsoft 365 whilst employed by the College.

The health and wellbeing of our staff is very important, so as well as an excellent Occupational Health referral system, the College offers the following to all staff:
• Health Assured EAP Scheme (Employee Assistance Programme). This health programme is available to all staff. The service provides free and confidential support that is available 24 hours a day.
• A dedicated Staff Welfare Officer.
• Eyesight tests - The College will contribute towards the cost of your eye examination and up to £40 towards the cost of glasses, if it is deemed necessary for your role.
• College Fitness Suite - All staff have access to the fully equipped, sport and fitness centre on the 7th floor of the Knightstone Campus. There are no membership fees involved, however a full gym induction must be completed.
• Hair, beauty and relaxation treatments - Discounts are available to all staff across the College on a wide range of hair and beauty treatments including hair cuts and colours, massage and manicures. The treatments are carried out by our Weston College students under the close supervision of the highly qualified hair and beauty lecturers.

All establishment staff at Weston College are entitled to a minimum of 30 days plus statutory bank holidays per year (allocated on a pro rata basis for part time staff).

What brought me to the programme is the recognition that I need the correct tools in my toolbox to be able to deliver a professional service in all circumstances.</p><p>I want to ensure that the help I give is ethically sound, and based on solid foundation that guide my friend, family, or student to rise above whatever form of challenges they face.</p><p>I found it necessary for me to have a deeper understanding of what counselling skills entail, how it works and why. On many occasions, when someone offloads their circumstances, I empathise with them and feel that weight that is weighing them down. I realised that when I am fully trained, I can help others to a much greater depth whilst protecting my own safety and wellbeing.</p><h2>Your experience of the Weston College course delivered at UWE</h2><p>My caring, knowledgeable, and experienced tutors from Weston College are experts in their fields and provide a lot of authentic practice of using counselling skills in the course.</p><p>This positive experience is echoed by my cohort because everyone looks forward to attending this course every Tuesday evening after work and family life.</p><p>This wonderful collaboration between Weston College and the convenience of attending the course at UWE enables the commute. This is valuable for me and my cohorts as it motivates us to pursue our career and support those that need us.</p><h2>How the course is assuring your job role or progression at work or further studies</h2><p>The counselling skills course has been useful in my current role as an educator when addressing children’s emotional needs during these challenging times. <div class="esw-box"><p class="text1-ew"><strong>Update 20 November 2019</strong></p><p>University Centre Weston (UCW) and Weston College graduate Henry Green has been named as the Association of Colleges (AoC) Higher Education Student of the Year runner-up. He was presented with a certificate to commemorate his success at the International Conference Centre, Birmingham, on Tuesday (19 November) evening.</p><p><a class="ew-box" href="https://www.ucw.ac.uk/education-news/henry-aoc-success/?fbclid=IwAR2QIB… more</a></p></div><p> </p><p>A Weston College and University Centre Weston (UCW) graduate is in the running to win the prestigious Association of Colleges (AoC) Higher Education Student of the Year Award.</p><p>Henry Green has made the final three for the prize, and will find out if he wins when the winner is announced during the annual AoC conference in mid-November.</p><p>Henry, from Burnham-on-Sea, completed the <a href="https://www.weston.ac.uk/what-can-i-study/travel-and-tourism/travel-and… 2 Extended Certificate</a> and <a href="https://www.weston.ac.uk/what-can-i-study/travel-and-tourism/travel-and… 3 BTEC Extended Diploma</a> in Travel and Tourism at Weston College before progressing to a Foundation Degree in Tourism Management and <a href="https://www.ucw.ac.uk/courses/business-management-with-sustainability-t… Degree in Business Management with Sustainability</a> at UCW.</p><p>The 22-year-old graduated this summer with an upper second class (2:1) honours degree having impressed his lecturers throughout his time at Weston College and UCW.</p><p>As well as being a dedicated and popular student, Henry was nominated for the award in recognition of his achievements whilst having a diagnosis of autism.</p><p>He took every opportunity to make the most out of his studies, including attending trips to the United States and Belgium and working as a student ambassador at open days and other events.</p><p>He also discussed how to support students on the autism spectrum during staff development sessions, and even took the time to speak to students on UCW’s Inclusive Practice Degree about how they too could develop their professional practice.</p><p>Henry also undertook a number of work placements as part of his studies, including at Weston’s Helicopter Museum, and has written articles about autism for a number of publications.</p><p>He said: “Weston College provided me with a positive and encouraging environment, this helped me to achieve all of the things that I did.
