Early Years Practitioner (Apprenticeship Level 2)

Introduction

Upon completion of this standard, apprentices will be able to demonstrate a range of excellent skills, knowledge and behaviours in their role as an Early Years Practitioner. They will be equipped to work as part of a team providing high quality and care and knowledge of the EYF’s, Safeguarding and Prevent. Apprentices will study a range of criteria in order to complete the apprenticeship standard including Health and Safety, Behaviour Management and Professional Development.

Entry requirements:

There are no other formal qualifications required to start this apprenticeship but you will be assessed to ensure you have the ability to complete the English and Maths qualification to at least level 1.

Functional skills:

Apprentices without level 1 English and maths will need to achieve this level and apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to take the tests for this level prior to taking the end-point assessment. For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeship’s English and maths minimum requirement is Entry Level 3. A British Sign Language (BSL) qualification is an alternative to the English qualification for those whose primary language is BSL.

Duration:

12 months.

Progression:

Upon completion, the apprentice may choose to progress on to a higher level apprenticeship such as the Level 3 Early Years Educator standard. This would enable them to further their professional career development and potentially work toward securing a ‘Senior Early Years Practitioner’ role.

Funding:

Levy paying employers may fund apprentices on this programme from their Apprenticeship Account and nonlevy paying SMEs through the co-funded option. There may be a small fee for some SME’s.

End point assessment:

To achieve this apprenticeship standard, the employer, training provider and apprentice will agree when the apprentice is ready and competent to undertake the independent end assessment, which will test their skills knowledge and behaviours required for this role.

Title of specific Apprenticeship:

To achieve the Apprenticeship Standard you will need to complete the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner qualification before you take your End Point Assessment (EPA).

Halo workplace logo

Our workplace champions the right of staff to embrace all Afro-hairstyles. We acknowledge that Afro-textured hair is an important part of our Black employees’ racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious identities, and requires specific styling for hair health and maintenance. We celebrate Afro-textured hair worn in all styles including, but not limited to, afros, locs, twists, braids, cornrows, fades, hair straightened through the application of heat or chemicals, weaves, wigs, headscarves, and wraps. In this workplace, we recognise and celebrate our colleagues’ identities. We are a community built on an ethos of equality and respect where hair texture and style have no bearing on an employee's ability to succeed.
