Scaffolder (Apprenticeship Level 2)
Introduction
The primary role of a Scaffolder is to provide access solutions or structural support which allows other trades to carry out their roles safely whilst working at height. Upon completion of this apprenticeship, the operative will have achieved the established trade competency for the scaffolding industry which will enable them to erect, alter and dismantle a wide range of scaffolding structures as covered by this training and assessment.
Entry Requirements
There are no other formal qualifications required to start this apprenticeship, but you will be assessed to ensure you have the ability to complete the English and Maths qualification to at least level 1.
Functional Skills
Individuals without Level 1 in English and Maths will need to achieve this level and complete the test Level 2 English and Maths prior to taking the end-point assessment.
Duration
18 months.
Progression
This standard has been designed to allow the individual to meet the requirements of the Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme (CISRS). Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship the Scaffolder will be eligible to apply for a CISRS Scaffolder card. Progression from the Level 2 Apprenticeship could lead to undertaking Advanced Scaffolder training. This apprenticeship also provides a foundation for the Scaffolder to further develop their career by moving into Supervision, Management, Scaffold Inspection, Scaffold Design, Estimating, Surveying, Health and Safety or Training.
Funding
Levy paying employers may fund apprentices on this programme from their Apprenticeship Account and non-levy paying SMEs through the co-funded option. There may be a small fee for some SME’s
End Assessment
The EPA consists of two distinct assessment methods:
• Knowledge Test.
• Practical Test of Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours.
Performance in the EPA will determine the apprenticeship grade of fail, pass or distinction.
