With Weston College Business Awards just around the corner, it's time to turn our attention to the nominees for Large Employer of the Year.

University Hospital Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust
University Hospital Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust are a large organisation who employ more than 13,500 staff. Working across the South West in 10 hospital sites in Weston-super-Mare and Bristol.
They deliver apprenticeships to over 140 apprentices including Healthcare Support Workers, HR Consultants, Trainee Nurse Associates, Business Administration and Customer Service Practitioner over ten hospital sites in Bristol and Weston-super-Mare. In addition to this they have supported the traineeship programme for several years and they have offered 100% of their trainees who apply either an apprenticeship or employment. They have committed to supporting Weston College further by working with the first cohort of T Level Health students offering 9 placements across the trust.
Through recruiting apprentices, they have been able to fill essential vacancies for Healthcare Support Workers which is a key role in the delivery of excellent patient care and has meant that they can meet the needs of the workforce which helps them to look after patients and their families.
MBDA
MBDA has a long-standing relationship with Weston College and work closely with the college to ensure their apprentices studies are tailored to the needs of the organisation as well as ensuring their apprentices are fully supported. They have a true passion for growing talent within the region and are committed to developing young minds and igniting a spark in them.
They invest heavily in the development of their apprentices, encouraging them to grow their skills and knowledge both technically and personally with tailor-made training which includes health and wellbeing workshops. They strongly believe in appraising their workers and apprentices will often receive rewards and recognition for their hard work and encouraging them to promote themselves further.
MBDA see the true value in apprenticeships as it has secured future talent for their organisation, and they see their apprentices as the future leaders of MBDA. They always encourage an Entreprenurial spirit within the Early Years Community and innovation is instilled into their new starters from day one as one of five of their core values!
Liberation Group
Liberation Group consists of over 120 pubs, bars and inns with over 250 rooms, stretching across South-West England and into the Channel Islands. Based in the South-West is their sister brewery Butcombe Brewing Co. which work very closely with Weston College as a Hospitality and Catering Career Excellence Hub endorser.
Liberation Group offer apprenticeship placements up to a Level 3 and are lead endorser on the Hospitality and Catering T Levels. As part of their apprenticeship programme, they have created an extensive learning plan which uses modern technology which has allowed the best opportunities and experiences for their learners.
The team that engages with the apprentices are great role models and always ignite a spark within the learners to better themselves. They are always keen to train up new team members and provide new starters with a quality training programme alongside their work and college hours. Apprentices and learners who start on a work placement at Liberation Group are often offered a full-time contract once they have completed their programme.
