How to Apply for an Apprenticeship

An apprenticeship isn’t just a course, it’s a job with training – meaning you can earn while you learn!  

To be an apprentices, you will need to find a suitable employer – here is some guidance with your next steps... 

School Leaver 

If you’re leaving school in the summer and have chosen an apprenticeship as your preferred career path you can see what's available on our subject area pages, then by clicking apply for the course(s) you're interested in.  The college will then get in touch with you for a course interview and the Apprenticeship Recruitment Team will be able to offer you lots of support in how to find an apprenticeship that’s right for you.

Looking to start now 

If you’re ready to start an apprenticeship right away, then you have two options: 

  1. Register your interest in a vacancy on the Apprenticeship page and you will be contacted by the Apprenticeship Recruitment Team with further support on how to find an apprenticeship 
  2. Register an account on ‘www.findanapprenticeship.gov.uk’ where you will be able to search and apply for live vacancies in the sector and location of your choice 

Once you have applied, a member of the Apprenticeship Recruitment Team will be in touch to request your CV. Feel free to contact the team on 01934 411663 if you would like support with writing a professional CV document.  

Approach organisations directly to see if they would be interested in taking you on as an apprentice.  This can be a successful route to finding an opportunity that’s right for you in your preferred sector. Employers are impressed with the confidence it take to make the direct approach!

Further Career Progression - Upskilling 

You may be looking to upskill your qualifications in your current job role.  We offer a wide range of apprenticeships that range from Level 2 – Level 6 which can enhance and strengthen your career opportunities and progression.  

In many cases this will be offered to you through your employer, however we can also support you in exploring this further via  discussing apprenticeship options with your current employer, or finding a vacancy with an organisation that is offering your chosen pathway.
