Liz
Lecturer in Adult Education Services
I have worked at Weston College since October 2003; I started as a work-based learning assessor and supported apprentices achieve their qualifications in Customer Service, Business Administration, Team Leading and Childcare. In 2007 I became a Training and Development Manager, with a team of 14 assessors. I monitored and managed a range of apprenticeships in the Professional Services sector until lockdown 2020. Since then, I have worked with adult learners, supporting them with further training or back into employment.
My professional background is a Primary School teacher; so, I use this knowledge and experience to write and deliver the courses for those interested in working in the education sector. This includes the Preparing to Work in Schools Course which includes a Safeguarding qualification and the Level 1 Certificate in Childcare. Other courses I deliver focus on personal development and include Future You, Employability, Customer service, Wellbeing and Mental Health Awareness.
All of these courses are supporting you on your journey to reach your next steps and goals. This may be so you can explore new career options, use your transferable skills in a new sector or be about helping you to increase your confidence so you can be the best version of yourself! ?
Since working for the College, I have achieved the IQA Award in Quality Assurance so I can support colleagues with their assessment practices, the ILM Level 5 Diploma in Management, and Mental Health First Aid. I’m currently studying an online Autism Course. In my spare time I enjoy socialising with friends, playing in a local orchestra, keeping fit,
