My career journey…
I started my career in hospitality, working as a waitress throughout my education from the age of 14. I also worked part time for 18 months in a department store on a perfume counter. Once I finished my education, I started work in a contact centre for a large retail company in their National Customer Support Centre. I was promoted to a supervisor and then quickly joined the training team, qualifying as a trainer shortly after. I was promoted to training and development manager and I managed a training team who were responsible for the training and development of 400+ staff, plus wider business training needs.
My journey through Weston College…
I joined Weston College in 2013, working as a lecturer, teaching and helping people develop their skills and confidence back into employment. I have written and developed courses in English, employability, business administration, digital skills and customer service.
Since working for the college, I have achieved my Certificate in Education, English for teaching , my assessors qualification, mental health first aid and most recently completing the leading from the middle management and leadership programme with the education and training foundation. I want to continue to progress within education as I enjoy developing people and helping them to exceed their potential.
A little bit about me…
In my spare time, I enjoy performing in and directing local theatre shows. Most recently directing ‘Kinky Boots’ at the Playhouse Theatre, Weston-super-Mare.
I am married and I am fortunate to be a step mum to two boys.
