Likes: Dogs, Japanese food, Holidays, Chocolate!
Dislikes: Being hot, Scary films, 80’s pop music
Proud moments: It should probably be raising my 3 children and owning my own home, however my dog having amazing recall on a busy dog beach in Dorset is top of the list! Alongside starting work at Weston College and passing my Maths 2019.
When I left school all I wanted to do was become a mechanic, after completing work experience at a local garage I was offered an YTS (Apprenticeship) unfortunately when this fell through, I was left feeling lost and disillusioned with what to do next, with had no back-up plan.
Without any career's advice on offer at the time to guide me through my next steps, I fell into customer service roles which I continued to do over many years, whilst raising a family.
The big turning point in my career happened in 2015 after I started a volunteer role at Weston Hospice care, in Uphill. Over 4 years I learnt new skills and worked alongside an amazing and supportive team, who encouraged me to believe in myself and aim higher, which I did. I applied for a vacancy at Weston College and have continued to grow in confidence and expand my knowledge. I am very passionate about careers advice and how having access to all the options available really can help students start their Further Education journey. I do believe our life experiences can help shape us and I’m very excited to be using my own to help students access careers advice and start them on their next adventure.
