“I love learning new beauty treatments to help people feel confident and comfortable with themselves and I also enjoy learning about the anatomy and physiology side of beauty therapy – this course covers all of that and more!
The College facilities offer everything you would expect in a commercial salon and create a realistic environment to learn and practice new skills. Work experience in a respected beauty salon has given me a glimpse into the running of a salon, preparing me for real-world scenarios and providing insight into advanced techniques and treatments to explore later in my career.
Ultimately, my goal is to establish and manage my own salon, so the lessons on business ownership have proven invaluable. The guidance from my tutors has been exceptional, they have supported me and equipped me with the confidence to take on any challenge. As a Beauty student I am part of the Career Excellence Hub for Hair & Beauty and this has given me access to industry competitions. I am currently preparing to participate in WorldSkills, the World championships of vocational skills. This is a prestigious international competition that showcases the talents of beauty therapists across the globe. My lecturers are highly experienced with WorldSkills competitions, and I am lucky to receive their personalised mentorship so that I can excel in each round. This opportunity not only earns me additional certificates but also elevates the quality of my treatments, positioning me for success in high-end salons or even my own establishment in the future.
In addition to my beauty-focused education, my course has incorporated business lessons to equip me with knowledge about owning and operating a private salon. Under the guidance of my experienced tutor, who has a background in business ownership, I have gained valuable insights into the workings of a successful enterprise. These lessons have been instrumental in shaping my understanding of entrepreneurship and what it takes to run a thriving salon.
After completing my studies at Weston College, I hope to pursue a Level 4 qualification in beauty at university, before advancing to a Level 5 qualification, with the ultimate goal of establishing my own business. Throughout my course, I have been fortunate to receive invaluable advice and support from my tutors. They have been instrumental in helping me with mapping out my path forward, establishing midterm objectives to monitor my progress, and pinpointing areas where I can improve my skills and knowledge. Thanks to their dedicated assistance, I am confident in my ability to reach my goals.”
