Sport Students Take a Tour of Wimbledon

Last month, our Sport students embarked on an exciting trip to London for an overnight stay, offering them a fantastic opportunity to experience professional sports up close.

Louis was instrumental in the U19 football team’s top league finish and helped the U18 team win the floodlit league in his first year.  

At just 18, he represented the first team in the county cup. He also coached youth teams, led academy sessions, and graduated with a 3-merit profile. He now continues striving for first-team honours.

Phebe excelled at Weston College, achieving top marks in sport and exercise science with a triple distinction star. 

As a tutor group spokesperson, she supported peers and gained experience shadowing a podiatrist and physiotherapist. She also worked in a care home, engaging residents through games and piano. 

Now, she is pursuing a PE and Sport degree at Stranmillis University.

Working with local authorities, community organisations and sports clubs, you will help create inclusive and accessible opportunities for participation and provide guidance on healthy living.

Community Activator Coach, Apprenticeship

This apprenticeship is a dynamic programme that prepares individuals to make a positive impact in their communities through sports and physical activities. As a community activator coach apprentice, you will develop the skills and knowledge necessary to engage and inspire people of all ages and abilities to lead an active lifestyle. This apprenticeship combines practical experience with theoretical learning, allowing you to gain hands-on coaching experience while studying the principles of community sports development, behaviour change strategies, and inclusive coaching practices.

Sports Coaching Traineeship

The Sports Coaching Traineeship is designed for individuals who have a passion for sports and want to become skilled coaches. This programme offers hands-on experience and knowledge in sports coaching. Trainees will learn essential coaching techniques, improve communication and leadership skills, and gain a solid understanding of sports psychology and training principles. Throughout the traineeship, you will work closely with experienced coaches, assisting in coaching sessions, planning, and delivering training programs, and supporting athletes. This traineeship is an excellent starting point for a career in sports coaching, providing valuable skills and experience for future opportunities.

Our state-of-the-art sports facilities offer everything you need to refine your skills, broaden your prospects, and pursue your ambitions both on and off the field or court. Our staff members bring extensive experience from the sports and fitness industries, allowing you to benefit from their skills and expertise. Regardless of your current level, our lecturers and coaches will collaborate with you to enhance your knowledge and abilities, both within and beyond the classroom. This includes practical assignments, presentations, and demonstrations.
