Summer Schools are BACK! Come and have a taste of college life, in a variety of different subjects.

Weston College Summer Schools are back and better than ever!

Our ever popular Summer School programme returns with a range of subjects to choose from.

With something for everyone, we are throwing the doors open again this summer with a variety of exciting free workshops.

Available only to current Year 7s- Year 11s. 

Please read the terms and conditions on each workshop as age limits will vary.

Workshops

Art & Design: Year 7, 8, 9 & 10 (24th- 28th July)

Free

In this workshops you will have a taste of all areas of art and design. Develop skills in painting, drawing and mixed media. This workshop will be fun and experimental whilst developing art and design skills.

  • When: Monday 24th July- 28th July (a week)
  • Times: 10:00am - 15:00pm
  • Where: Loxton Campus
  • Age Range: Year 7, 8, 9 & 10 (You must be currently in one of these years to attend Summer School).

Ceramics: Years 7, 8 & 9 (24th & 25th July)

Within the ceramic summer schools, we will be looking at some basic ceramic techniques and creating creatures and magical houses based on a fairy-tale theme. Students will also have the opportunity to have a go at throwing on the potter’s wheel and exploring the creative process.

  • When: Monday 24th July- Tuesday 25th July (2 days)
  • Times: 10:00am - 15:00pm
  • Where: Loxton Campus
  • Age Range: Year 7, 8, 9 & 10 (You must be currently in one of these years to attend Summer School).

Fashion: Year 7, 8,9 & 10 (31st July - 4th August)

In this workshops you will have a taste of all areas of fashion . Recycle, Reuse, Redesign - you will be exploring your creativity through this exciting fashion workshop.

  • When: Monday 31st July- Friday 4th August (The whole week)
  • Times: 10:00am-15:00pm
  • Where: Loxton Campus
  • Age Range: Year 7, 8, 9 & 10 (You must be currently in one of these years to attend Summer School).

Photography: Years 7, 8 & 9 (24th & 25th July)

This 2 day workshop is all about trying out different processes to get a taste of what it would be to study photography at college.

Day 1 will be an introduction to a professional photography studio where you will have the opportunity to make your own studio portrait and shown how to make a light painting.

Day 2 will be about introducing you to professional printing techniques, you will be shown our extensive darkrooms and have the opportunity to try out some darkroom printing techniques.

  • Age Range: Year 7, 8 & 9 (You must be currently in one of these years to attend Summer School).

Your morning session will offer an Insight in to early years and education in different practical sessions.

Creative Activity Making - using resources to create fun and stimulating activities for children.

  • When: Tuesday 25th July (1 day, morning session)
  • Times: 9.30am - 12:00pm
  • Where: Knightstone Campus
  • Age Range: Year 7, 8, 9 & 10 (You must be currently in one of these years to attend Summer School).

It is dependant on the activity, but you must be currently in one of those year groups in the description to attend. For example, if you started in year 7 in 2022 you would be eligible to talk part in Summer Schools.

For the longer sessions, please bring a lunch, water bottle and snacks for breaktime as our Bistros are closed in the summer.

Please go to reception at your allocated time to be signed in by staff.

Yes all our Summer School activities are free.
