This Art and Design Ceramics Award course is for students over the age of 19, it offers an immersive and dynamic exploration of ceramics as a medium for artistic expression. Designed for individuals who have completed the Level 1 Award or have a basic understanding of ceramics, this Level 2 course builds upon existing skills and knowledge, providing a deeper understanding of the creative and technical aspects of working with clay.
Throughout the course, you will engage in a series of hands-on projects and critical studies, guided by experienced instructors who are passionate about ceramics and committed to nurturing students' artistic development. You will have the opportunity to expand your repertoire of ceramic techniques, experiment with new concepts, and push the boundaries of their creativity.
What will I study?
The Level 2 Award in Art, Design & Media (Ceramics) encompasses the following key areas:
- Sgraffito
- Stencilling
- Screen Printing
- Surface design and decoration
- Conceptual development
- Record their practice via technical and personal reports
- Researching Ceramics and relevant potters
- Keeping and annotating a sketchbook
- Evaluating project outcomes
- Following a project brief & working within a group
- Following Homework projects
Additional Progression Module will be included that covers your next steps and different progression opportunities both academic and professional.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is based on the completion of practical assignments, written and visual records of practice and a written evaluation. You will be required to produce a portfolio of work that demonstrates your techniques will be provided.
What can I do after the course?
By the end of the course, you will have acquired an advanced skill set in ceramics, enabling them to create sophisticated and conceptually driven artworks. This Level 2 Award can serve as a valuable steppingstone for further study in ceramics or related disciplines at higher levels, as well as providing a solid foundation for pursuing a career in the field of ceramics.
Additional Information
Learners will be asked to please wear clothing they do not mind getting messy and be comfortable in.
Entry Requirements
As this is a level 2 award course you must have previous experience in ceramics or have previously completed a similar Level 1 award course.
