Cyber Security, Award

On this course you’ll cover aspects of e-safety and how to stay safe online, as well as protecting against online threats. 

You'll cover aspects of e-safety and how to stay safe online, as well as protecting against online threats. At the end of the course, you will understand routine protective methods used to maintain cybersecurity including the principles of vulnerability and penetration testing and user access control.

Assessment Methods

Assessments will require you to be able to write written reports and present and so ability in English must be sufficient to be able to complete this. Part of the course also requires learners to understand basic binary equations and so users must be able to conduct simple division and multiplication.

Entry requirements

At least a Level 1 in a Cyber specific qualification. If you do not have this qualification, please click here to view our Level 1 qualification. You will also need a basic computing background i.e.- the ability to navigate around the web, save and open files using file explorer and use Microsoft Office software. Minimum Functional Skills Level 1 English and Maths (equivalent for a grade 2-3/E-D in GCSE)”

Additional Requirements

A computer capable of running modern software such as Microsoft Teams & Office 365. As part of your assignments, you will need to have the ability to set file and user access permissions and so ability to have admin privileges on a computer is a must. This would probably rule out most computers provided by a business. To take part in Password cracking activities the minimum expectation would be for a computer capable of running at least Windows 10.
