Women's Hairdressing, Fast-Track Diploma
This qualification will prepare you for employment as a junior hairdresser or stylist.
You'll cover a range of units including:
- Health and safety
- Client consultation
- Shampooing and conditioning hair
- A research unit - working in the hair industry
- Cutting women's hair
- Colouring and lightening hair
- The art of dressing hair
You’ll also develop your knowledge and skills by selecting several optional specialist units which include reception duties; creating an image based on a theme; promoting products and services to clients; and perming and colouring hair.
Entry Requirements
Customer service forms an integral part of the course content (around 70%) therefore it is essential that all learners have a good level of conversational English, level 2 at least.
How Will I Be Assessed?
Knowledge questions, theory exams and practical assessments.
Additional Fees
Kit Fees are £344.03 which can be paid in instalment options in an agreement with the Hair & Beauty faculty. The kit will need to be paid off by the end of the course. Alternatively low-income households can apply for a one-off bursary payment to help with the cost of the kit. (If eligible apply for bursary prior to your first day.)
You will also need to purchase a polo top or a T shirt and can optionally purchase a crew neck sweatshirt.

Progression Opportunities
You can become a self-employed/Employed Junior Hair stylist or progress onto a Level 3 VRQ Diploma to enhance technical skills. Please note that this course will ensure you are ‘industry aware’ rather than ‘Industry ready’.
