Sports Coach (Apprenticeship Level 4)
Introduction:
The role of Sport Coach is to use extensive technical and tactical sports knowledge and skills to design and deliver coaching programmes that engage, motivate and evolve participants’ skills and performance.
This apprenticeship will equip aspiring coaches to provide meaningful and high-quality learning, development and performance experiences. They support the achievement of medals in talent, national and international competition, enrich performance in local competitions, increase participation, raise educational standards, enhance wellbeing and drive social change.
Entry Requirements:
Employers will identify any relevant entry requirements through selection.
Functional Skills:
Apprentices without Level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve these qualifications before completion of their apprenticeship.
A British Sign Language (BSL) qualification is an alternative to the English qualification for those whose primary language is BSL.
Duration:
Minimum duration: 12 months
Typical duration: 18 months
Progression:
This standard aligns with the following professional recognition: The Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) for 4.
Funding:
Levy paying employers may fund apprentices on this programme from their Apprenticeship Account and non-levy paying SMEs through the co-funded option. There may be a small fee for some SME’s.
End Assessment:
To achieve this apprenticeship standard, the employer, training provider and apprentice will agree when the apprentice is ready and competent to undertake the independent end assessment, which will test their skills knowledge and behaviours required for this role.
