Information for students joining us in September

Following the Government announcement of school and college closures, and the cancelled GCSE exams, we wanted to reach out to confirm our position for all those looking to join the College in September.

GCSE exams

Currently we have only received the same information that has been released by the Department for Education to the general public. We, therefore, understand that GCSEs are likely to be graded based on tutor assessment and coursework. We are waiting for more detailed guidance from the Government regarding exactly how the assessment and grading of GCSE's will be and as soon as this is confirmed we will communicate via our website and social media channels on how we will approach this.

Information for our offer holders

We consider all student applications on their individual merit, we can assure you that there is no reason why the current disruption would jeopardise your place at Weston College. We can therefore confirm that all students that currently have a conditional offer will now have an unconditional offer in your chosen area of study. We will be working with you and your school to ensure your transition from school to college is as smooth as possible in these undefined times.

Information for those waiting to be interviewed or yet to apply

Once we’ve received your application, a member of our team will be in touch to arrange a careers and guidance discussion over the telephone. Our message to you, is please don’t worry, you will be offered a place at Weston College for September.

We will continue to stay in touch with you over the coming weeks and months via emails, our website, social media and telephone. We also hope to be able to run events such as Welcome Days and Taster events; however these events are of course subject to the College buildings reopening and for it being safe for students to attend. We are therefore working to develop additional online resources to provide you, your parents and advisers the opportunity to speak to staff, learn more about our programmes of study and get a flavour of life at Weston College.

If you have any queries about your application, please contact our College Information Services department on 01934 411481 or via enquiries@weston.ac.uk.

To all our existing and future applicants, please be reassured that you have secured a place with us for the 2020-21 academic year and that we reconfirm our commitment to you as a future Weston College learner and look forward to helping you to create your brighter future.

One Message, Different Voices

Take a look at this powerful film made by the staff of Weston College to show how important it is for everyone from different backgrounds to be included. The film shares heartfelt stories and interviews with a diverse group of staff, showing how accepting different identities and backgrounds can make a big difference. Its purpose is to encourage viewers to think about their own biases and work towards making our community more welcoming to all. We invite everyone, regardless of their background, to join us and be a part of our journey toward a more inclusive future.

Halo workplace logo

Our workplace champions the right of staff to embrace all Afro-hairstyles. We acknowledge that Afro-textured hair is an important part of our Black employees’ racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious identities, and requires specific styling for hair health and maintenance. We celebrate Afro-textured hair worn in all styles including, but not limited to, afros, locs, twists, braids, cornrows, fades, hair straightened through the application of heat or chemicals, weaves, wigs, headscarves, and wraps. In this workplace, we recognise and celebrate our colleagues’ identities. We are a community built on an ethos of equality and respect where hair texture and style have no bearing on an employee's ability to succeed.
