Early Years Educator Practitioner (Apprenticeship Level 3)
Introduction
Upon completion of this standard, apprentices will be able to demonstrate a range of excellent skills, knowledge and behaviours in their role as an Early Years Practitioner.
They will be equipped to work as part of a team providing high quality and care and knowledge of the EYF’s, Safeguarding and Prevent. Apprentices will study a range of criteria in order to complete the apprenticeship standard including Health and Safety, Behaviour Management and Professional Development.
Entry Requirements
To start this apprenticeship but you will be assessed to ensure you have the ability to complete the English and Maths qualification to at least level 2.
Functional Skills
Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking their end point assessment. For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeships English and maths minimum requirements are Entry Level 3, and the British Sign Language qualification is an alternative to English qualifications for apprentices for whom this is their primary language.
Duration
18- 24 Months
Progression
Upon completion, the apprentice may choose to progress on to a HE Degree with Childcare and Education. This would enable them to further their professional career development.
Funding
Levy paying employers may fund apprentices on this programme from their Apprenticeship Account and non-levy paying SMEs through the co-funded option. There may be a small fee for some SME’s.
End Point Assessment
To achieve this apprenticeship standard, the employer, training provider and apprentice will agree when the apprentice is ready and competent to undertake the independent end assessment, which will test their skills knowledge and behaviours required for this role.
Level 3
To achieve the Apprenticeship Standard you will need to complete the Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification before you take your End Point Assessment (EPA). Apprentices must successfully complete the Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid. (RQF) or Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) Or complete a first aid course delivered by one of the following types of organisations as per the EYFS requirements. Voluntary aid society, member of trade body with an approval and monitoring system, or acknowledged by the Health and Safety Executive.
