When did you join Weston College?

"I joined Weston College in August 2022, having previously worked as a private tutor, teaching Maths and Chemistry.’’

Why did you join Weston College?

"I was looking for an opportunity to develop my career in this direction when an opening for an internship within the College came up. This involved both training and teaching in a subject I am passionate about, Maths."

How do you spend your day?

"I work full-time, 5 days a week. My days are varied with teaching students at the level of Functional Skills and GCSE, this is at different College campuses, so I get to use to use lots of different facilities, together with a teacher training day once a week.”

 How has the College supported your career development?

"My manager offers various professional development opportunities, including bespoke training programs, workshops, mentoring, and coaching, during my eight-month tenure. As a lecturer, I'm part of several groups, such as college member, teacher training, EMT, and Maths Team, where two-way communication takes place, and discussions revolve around course review, behaviour and learning strategies to cater to learners' needs.” 

What have you been involved in while working at Weston College?

“At Weston College, I’ve had the opportunity to develop my interpersonal skills, my teaching approach and my understanding of special needs students, making their experience one that is supportive and inclusive, regardless of their background or experience.”

What’s the best thing about working at Weston College?

“I love communicating with my colleagues, all of us  are here to develop, motivate and encourage progression, all bettering our chances of being successful for ourselves and our students: I love being part of an effective team with different strengths and styles.”
