Fashion, Business & Retail, UAL Extended Diploma
Level 3
This course is perfect if you have a passion for clothes, trends, marketing, and styling; you will explore fashion design, production, digital media, communication, and retailing. You will learn how to take a design from concept through to a completed garment, and you will understand how that garment is produced, promoted, and sold. At Creative Arts Weston we offer stimulating spaces and studios for you to work in. The fashion studio has industrial and domestic sewing machines, a large cutting table, and industry-standard fabric printing facilities. You will be taught specialist skills including fashion illustration, pattern cutting, computer-aided drawing (CAD), and garment construction. As part of our creative and passionate community, you will be empowered to experiment and explore your individual creativity, and you will be guided by experienced lecturers who have extensive experience in the fashion industry.
In addition to vocational skills, your lecturers will help you develop transferable skills including team working, critical thinking, reflective learning, communication skills, collaboration, and project management. You will also gain an understanding of professional industry practice, social responsibility, environmental awareness, and sustainability. This knowledge and skillset will improve your employability, and help you stand out from the competition in a growing industry.
You’ll become part of our Creative Arts Career Excellence Hub, which is endorsed by leading industry partners, who are actively involved throughout your whole training programme. This provides unrivalled access to potential employers and the opportunity to develop your creative network. You will benefit from work experience opportunities, guest lectures and masterclasses from renowned artists, visits to leading galleries and museums, and international trips to inspire your work. As part of this study programme, you will develop your maths and English skills, attend tutorials and Individual Development (ID). You will also complete an extended industry placement. All aspects of your study programme will be discussed at your interview.
Become part of Creative Arts Weston, a career-focused College and University Centre, housed within a vibrant and supportive environment, which encourages collaboration with your peers, lecturers and the creative industries to give you the skills and opportunities you need to kick-start your career.
