A-Levels
Level 3
Geography, A Level
Geography A Level explores the interactions between humans and the environment, covering physical and human geography. It includes topics like ecosystems, climate change, urbanisation, migration, and resource management. Fieldwork and analytical skills are important elements of the course, preparing students for university study and developing valuable transferable skills.
Studying geography will give you a deeper understanding of environmental systems, natural disasters, and many other processes. It gives meaning to places and spaces, and their importance and contribution. Ensuring the well-being and sustainability of our planet is crucial for us and for generations to come, so deepening your understanding will leave you well placed to help address future challenges.
The geography department has strong links with the University of the West of England and the Geographical Association, and as part of your course you will have the opportunity to attend field trips and external lectures We also have in-person and online talks from the university and employers such as the Environment Agency and Water Aid, whilst a visit to Hinkley Point C looks at nuclear power, energy security, and the jobs being created by this vast project. These experiences offer insight into different roles this field.
When you study A Levels with us, you will automatically become part of our Career Excellence Hub and benefit from a range of additional opportunities designed to enhance your career prospects.
