Level 3
This course will encourage you to explore your personal interests and aspirations through a range of art mediums. You will be challenged by a range of briefs that will test your creativity and encourage you to achieve more than you think you are capable of. This diploma provides you with a broad skillset across different disciplines. You will be introduced to creative and technical skills, professional development and contextual studies, and a range of contemporary and historical practices. You will be encouraged to explore and use the facilities to help you in your artistic endeavours and you will have the opportunity to experiment with a range of creative disciplines, and a wide variety of materials, techniques, and processes.
At Creative Arts Weston we offer stimulating spaces and studios for you to work in. You can use ceramics and textiles studios, state-of-the-art technical workshops, photography darkrooms, industry-standard computer suites, and specialist maker spaces. As part of our creative community, you will be empowered to experiment, make mistakes, and problem-solve, as you explore your individual creativity. You will be guided by, and inspired by, working artists with extensive experience in the creative industries. In our exciting but nurturing environment, you will be fully supported by your lecturers to develop confidence, interpersonal skills, and good working practices, all of which will improve your employability.
You’ll become part of our Creative Arts Career Excellence Hub, which is endorsed by leading industry partners, who are actively involved throughout your whole training programme. This provides unrivalled access to potential employers and the opportunity to develop your creative network. You will benefit from work experience opportunities, guest lectures, and masterclasses from renowned artists, visits to leading galleries and museums, and international trips to inspire your work. As part of this study programme, you will develop your maths and English skills, attend tutorials and Individual Development (ID). You will also complete an extended industry placement. All aspects of your study programme will be discussed at your interview.

ASSESSMENT METHOD
You will be assessed through practical projects in studios and workshops, and written assignments.
FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES
You could progress straight onto a creative degree such as the BA (Hons) Art and Design, BA(Hons) Games and Animation Production, or the FdA in Graphic Design at University Centre Weston.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
You will need five GCSEs at grades 9-4 including an art-related subject and English & Maths, or a qualifying level 2 qualification (merit). A strong portfolio of work, plus a successful interview, will be required.
