Nursing Associate (NMC) Apprenticeship Inc. FDSC Nursing Associate (Apprenticeship Level 5)

Introduction:

The Nursing Associate Foundation Degree Apprenticeship will allow the trainee to work under the leadership and direction of the Registered Nurse in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care. The programme aims to produce compassionate, competent and confident NMC Registered Band 4 Nursing Associates. They will be able to practise safely and effectively within the parameters of practice, demonstrating appropriate values and behaviours in a wide range of health and social care settings. 

Entry Requirements:

English and Maths at GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent. Full Level 3 qualification – 3 A Levels, BTEC Extended Diploma or equivalent.

Functional Skills:

Apprentices without Level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve these qualifications before completion of their apprenticeship. A British Sign Language (BSL) qualification is an alternative to the English qualification for those whose primary language is BSL.

Duration:

24 months.

Progression:

The Nursing Associate Apprenticeship and Foundation Degree will lead to status as a registered Nurse Associate on the NMC register. NAs are band 4 employees within the NHS. There will also be the option to top-up to the full BSc degree and RN status.

Funding:

Levy paying employers may fund apprentices on this programme from their Apprenticeship Account and non-levy paying SMEs through the co-funded option. There may be a small fee for some SME’s. 

End Assessment:

Completion of the programme and portfolio of proficiencies will enable entry to the NMC register. The End Point Assessment will run alongside the final university exam board and the apprentice will have passed when both the academic and practice requirements have been met and the AEI has declared to the NMC the apprentice’s good character, and they are suitable for entry to the NMC register.
