Accounting, AAT Diploma
This Level 3 Diploma in Accounting is a potential route into employment with a globally recognised qualification accrediting the accountancy skills and knowledge required by employers. This accountancy qualification covers a range of essential and higher-level accounting techniques and disciplines. Students will learn and develop skills needed for a range of financial processes, including maintaining cost accounting records, advanced bookkeeping and the preparation of financial reports and returns. On completion, learners can successfully undertake a role in finance and accountancy. It can also be a stepping-stone to further education, with students progressing onto the Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting. It may be suited to students studying part-time alongside employment or to those already working in finance. This qualification will also suit those looking to gain the skills required to move into a career in finance as it provides a clear pathway towards a successful career in accounting and finance. What will I learn?
The Level 3 Diploma in Accounting covers a range of essential and complex accounting tasks, including maintaining cost accounting records and the preparation of reports and returns. Key themes have also been introduced throughout the suite of accounting qualifications including technology, ethics, sustainability, and communication. This qualification comprises four mandatory units. Business Awareness, Financial Accounting: Preparing Financial Statements, Management Accounting Techniques and Tax Processes for Businesses.
How will I learn?
Online, you will study award-winning video lessons, which are available on demand, and can be viewed from your phone, tablet or computer – meaning you can choose how, when and where you want to study. Lessons last for around 45 minutes and are accompanied by animations and motion graphics to bring concepts to life. Practice questions, downloadable lesson materials and interactive case studies help to enhance the learning experience further and learners should expect to spend around 4-5 hours studying independently online each week.
On campus, you benefit from regular classes with a college tutor – without having to commit to attending multiple evenings each week. Your tutor will review what you have learnt during your online lessons and will be on hand to provide guidance on progress and assessment. Regular discussion with classmates will help to reinforce key points while also providing the additional support and motivation that comes from being part of a group.

You will be assessed via external examinations.
Entry Requirements
Learners should have a desire to progress in a career within accountancy and finance and due to the complex nature of many of the topics, it is recommended that students should have a good standard of English and Maths before starting the course. You will need a merit or Distinction at AAT level 2 AQ2022, or equivalent bookkeeping qualification.
Additional Costs:
You will need to become a member of the AAT at the start of the course and take out professional membership with them to be a studying member. This can be done online directly with the AAT and will be an additional cost to the course fees. The cost of this is approx. £228..
Progression
Progression On successful completion of this course, you can progress to higher levels of the AAT Accounting Qualifications (Level 3 and then on to Level 4).
