Our online Information Communication Technician Apprenticeship offers a valuable opportunity to embark on a rewarding career in the field of information and communication technology (ICT).

In today's digital world, ICT plays a critical role in the smooth functioning of businesses and organisations across various industries.

There are three pathways for this course: • Support Technician • Network Technician • Digital Communications Technician

This apprenticeship programme provides a comprehensive and hands-on learning experience, equipping you with the essential skills and knowledge needed to succeed in a variety of ICT roles.

The programme combines on-the-job training with classroom instruction, allowing you to apply your skills in real-world settings while gaining a recognised qualification. You will develop expertise in a wide range of areas by working alongside experienced professionals. By completing this apprenticeship, you will be well-prepared to pursue a successful career as a Support Technician, Network Technician or Digital Communications Technician.

An apprenticeship provides a unique opportunity to acquire industry-specific qualifications and valuable hands-on experience while earning a salary. WHAT DOES THIS COURSE INVOLVE

The apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to combine theory and practical learning, so you acquire a wide range of knowledge and skills that can be applied to the workplace. Key technical skills and competencies that you will learn and develop include communication skills, IT security, remote infrastructure, data recording and communication, problem solving, workflow management, health and safety, performance, processes associated with WEEE (the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive).

ASSESSMENT METHOD

You will be assessed through workplace observations, write ups and research that will form a portfolio of evidence. Online knowledge exams, a practical project, and an interview.

FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES

Most learners will progress into a technician-level position. You could also progress to related higher education programmes, such as the degrees or degree apprenticeships on offer at University Centre Weston.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Individual employers will set the selection criteria, but this is likely to include five GCSEs, (especially English, mathematics and a science or technology subject); a relevant Level 2 Apprenticeship; other relevant qualifications and experience; or an aptitude test with a focus on IT skills. You will also need to be in relevant employment, but we can help you to find this.
