What Does This Course Involve?
The Fitter Apprenticeship trains you to work across a range of disciplines, such as mechanical, electrical, and pipe fitting.
Throughout the course, you will:

Plan and Prepare: Learn to interpret technical drawings and specifications to plan your tasks, ensuring you have the right tools, equipment, and resources.

Produce and Assemble: Work on the assembly and refurbishment of complex, low-volume components, including turbines, cranes, and platforms.

Quality Control: Check your work against rigorous quality standards and make necessary adjustments.

Work in Varied Environments: Gain experience in workshops, as well as client premises, which may include hazardous settings.

Team Collaboration: Handover finished work to colleagues and prepare your work area for the next project.

Assessment Method
Your skills and knowledge will be assessed through a combination of practical and theoretical assessments:

Independent End Assessment: This assessment will evaluate your practical skills, knowledge, and behaviours.

Practical Assessments: Hands-on tasks where you'll demonstrate your ability to assemble and refurbish components to a high standard.

Knowledge Tests: Written or verbal tests that will assess your understanding of engineering principles and the requirements of the role.
Future Opportunities
Upon completing the Fitter Apprenticeship, you'll be well-equipped to pursue careers as a mechanical fitter, electrical fitter, or even across multiple disciplines like instrumentation or control systems fitting. From here, you can progress to a Manufacturing Engineer Higher Apprenticeship or other Engineering Degree Apprenticeships, further enhancing your career prospects and technical expertise.
Entry Requirements
To start this apprenticeship, you’ll need a Grade C/5 in GCSE Maths and English. If you haven't achieved this level yet, you'll need to work towards Level 2 in both subjects before completing the apprenticeship.
