Alfie
Alfie embarked on his journey at Weston College as an apprentice. During his apprenticeship, and overcame some initial communication obstacles with colleagues in the workplace.
Alfie's determination and positive attitude propelled him forward. Transitioning to a full-time Level 2 course and later progressing to Level 3 in Motor Vehicle studies, Alfie showcased remarkable progress.
Alfie’s said his greatest challenge was managing and organising his work, but he was not deterred. Through diligent effort and timely submission of written assignments, Alfie excelled in advanced diagnostic techniques, demonstrating his commitment and ability.
Alfie overcame all communication barriers. During practical sessions, Alfie was an integral member of the team, supporting his peers with diagnostic skills and helping to create a collaborative learning environment. His proactive approach led him to secure invaluable work experience on his Level 3 with Chris Ganley Racing, where he became an indispensable member of the race team.
Throughout his Level 3 studies, Alfie remained focused on his ultimate goal: to work with a motorcycle race team and pursue a degree in Motorcycle Engineering. With the support of Weston College's SEND team and access to facilities, Alfie successfully prepared for this transition, culminating in his acceptance to Swansea University for Motorcycle Engineering.
Alfie is now pursuing his passion by studying for his degree while still contributing to the success of Chris Ganley Racing. Alfie’s achievements are a testament to his perseverance, resilience, and positive attitude. Alfie thoroughly deserves his award for Weston College’s Automotive Student of the Year.
