Health and safety

The health and safety of students and staff and is paramount to Weston College and we pride ourselves on providing a safe environment to work, study and socialise.

We take every possible step to ensure the highest standards of health and safety are achieved, maintained and improved.

To help ensure these standards are met, we have produced a health and safety policy and policy statement which we ask staff and students to adhere to.

National recognition

These standards were recognised when the College was awarded the most prestigious international health and safety accolade an establishment can receive.

The Sword of Honour is held by just 79 organisations worldwide and we are the only FE college to have received it.

It was awarded by the British Safety Council for the high standards of health and safety achieved at our Knightstone Campus.

One Message, Different Voices

Our workplace champions the right of staff to embrace all Afro-hairstyles. We acknowledge that Afro-textured hair is an important part of our Black employees’ racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious identities, and requires specific styling for hair health and maintenance. We celebrate Afro-textured hair worn in all styles including, but not limited to, afros, locs, twists, braids, cornrows, fades, hair straightened through the application of heat or chemicals, weaves, wigs, headscarves, and wraps. In this workplace, we recognise and celebrate our colleagues’ identities. We are a community built on an ethos of equality and respect where hair texture and style have no bearing on an employee's ability to succeed.
