Port Operations Apprentice at The Bristol Port Company
You’ll gain a variety of new skills, as well as an NVQ Level 2 qualification in Port Operations.
You will develop a solid foundation for a career that could see you quickly rise up the ranks, just as long as you’re willing to put in the hard work. In fact, many of our managers started their careers as apprentices.
You will also get the opportunity to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.
Your duties will include:
- Operating modern cargo handling equipment and machinery safely, including fork-lift trucks and front-end loaders
- Working effectively in a team, supporting colleagues to meet customer expectations, quality requirements and deadlines
- Performing safely within the port environment
- Complying with industry standards, relevant legislation, and environmental regulations
- Following standard operating procedures in line with company policies
- Demonstrating situational awareness of traffic and the movement of goods, materials and people around the port to avoid risks to themselves and others
- Promoting sustainable practices and reduce environmental impact in port operations
- Checking and processing relevant documentation, inventories and records of information, utilising the relevant technology
- Full training and supervision will be provided, we will also supply all the equipment and PPE you need
