A-Levels
Level 3
Psychology, A Level
Psychology is the study of why we behave the way we do. It helps us understand the human mind, why we do certain things and why people react differently in the same situation. Studying psychology can give you a better understanding of the people around you, making you more compassionate and giving you practical skills for everyday life.
Psychology A Level will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the fascinating world of psychology, preparing you for further studies in the field. You will explore the scientific study of the human mind and behaviour, gaining a deeper understanding of the factors that shape our thoughts, emotions, and actions.
Our Sixth Form is located at Loxton Campus. This purpose-built facility has been designed to simulate a university environment, preparing you for future higher education studies. By studying psychology with us, you will automatically become a part of our Career Excellence Hub and benefit from a range of additional opportunities designed to enhance your career prospects. We have established strong partnerships with respected employers, enabling you to gain valuable work experience in June of year one and February of year two. We'll support you in finding suitable placements or provide a week of experiences that align with your career aims.
Throughout the course, you'll attend informative lectures, participate in seminars, and engage in research projects. These activities will deepen your understanding of psychology and help you develop critical thinking, analytical, and research skills. Our experienced teachers are dedicated to fostering a supportive and intellectually stimulating learning environment, where you can explore diverse perspectives and develop your own informed opinions. As part of your course, you will have the opportunity to attended conferences with psychologists such as Phillip Zimbardo and Elizabeth Loftus. You will also hear from psychologists working for the NHS and CAMHS on the different entry routes into psychological careers.
Our dedicated Tutor Learning Mentors will provide guidance and assistance to help you develop effective study skills and prepare for exams. Whether you're considering pursuing higher education in psychology or related fields, or seeking employment opportunities, we'll provide tailored support for university applications and job interviews.
