Supported Internship: Into Work
Supported Internships provide an individualised programme of study for 16 to 24 year olds with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP), who want to move into employment and need extra support to do so.
The programme has one primary aim which is to: wherever possible support young people to move into paid employment.
The programme will usually run for one year, where individualised programmes of study are developed around learners EH&CP outcomes in order to prepare them for adulthood.
We will work closely with the interns, their circle of support, and host employer to ensure optimal opportunity for successfully gaining paid employment (including, where appropriate, self-employment).
A personalised timetable for an intern could include:
- Workplace training with a specialist job coach
- Mentoring to start a business
- English and maths development
- Personal and social development
- Vocational sessions
- Job club
- Employability skills
