BOOK A CAMPUS TOUR WITH SCHOOL LIAISON TEAM

The School Liaison team are here to help bridge the gap between school and college by offering information, advice and guidance to school leavers about all things Weston! You may see us in your school delivering a presentation in assembly or through a school leaver event at college, either way be sure to come and say hello!

Our ethos at Weston is all about "Careers not courses". However, the first step towards your chosen career is through the right course, and we are here to help you gain the information you need, and get a taste of college life through our regular events to make your decision a little easier.

We work with schools to support them to meet the Gatsby Careers benchmarks by offering bespoke assemblies, subject specific workshops or taster sessions in school or college. We can also attend progression events in school such as careers fairs, mock interview days and employability days. We understand that familiarity can make change feel a little easier so we are happy to carry out application drop-in workshops in tutor times or lunchtimes throughout the year to aid the transition into new surroundings ease.

We know that experience is key in making decisions about next steps so we organise events and activities throughout the year for students to gain an insight into a new subject and find out what life is like as a student at Weston College. Events include subject workshops in half terms, summer schools and taster days as well as our weekly campus tours. We are available outside of term time to offer advice and guidance about post 16 options including a results service on GCSE results day to support students to deal with queries about their progression to college or make a last-minute application.

We understand that the move to college from school can be difficult for parents too! We’re here to make the transition for everyone a little smoother by providing a first port of call for parents to find out more information about support the college can offer or answer questions about progression routes. We deal with all sorts of queries so feel free to get in touch so that we can discuss your concerns.

We are happy to talk, it’s what we are here for so see our individual staff profiles below or send us an email to schoolteam@weston.ac.uk and we will be in touch.

One Message, Different Voices

Take a look at this powerful film made by the staff of Weston College to show how important it is for everyone from different backgrounds to be included. The film shares heartfelt stories and interviews with a diverse group of staff, showing how accepting different identities and backgrounds can make a big difference. Its purpose is to encourage viewers to think about their own biases and work towards making our community more welcoming to all. We invite everyone, regardless of their background, to join us and be a part of our journey toward a more inclusive future.

Halo workplace logo

Our workplace champions the right of staff to embrace all Afro-hairstyles. We acknowledge that Afro-textured hair is an important part of our Black employees’ racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious identities, and requires specific styling for hair health and maintenance. We celebrate Afro-textured hair worn in all styles including, but not limited to, afros, locs, twists, braids, cornrows, fades, hair straightened through the application of heat or chemicals, weaves, wigs, headscarves, and wraps. In this workplace, we recognise and celebrate our colleagues’ identities. We are a community built on an ethos of equality and respect where hair texture and style have no bearing on an employee's ability to succeed.
